Apple-Sage Garnish for Roasted Turkey
Yield: Garnish for one large platter
Roasted apples, dried cranberries and sprigs of green sage are a festive addition to any holiday platter. This garnish is edible! Serve it alongside the fresh slices of turkey.
6 apples, cored and quartered
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon unrefined sugar
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup toasted or candied walnuts
several sprigs fresh sage
After the turkey is out of the oven, turn the oven to a high broil and place the rack in the top slot. Mix the apples, melted butter and sugar in a large bowl.
Spread the apples onto a large sheet pan and broil 3-4 minutes. Remove from the oven, give them a stir, then broil another 3-4 minutes, until slightly soft and lightly browned.
Lay the apples around the turkey and highlight with the cranberries, walnuts and sage sprigs.
