Fava Beans - 3 Ways!
Braised - Remove the beans from the pods. Place the beans into a sauce pan with just enough water to cover the beans. Simmer the beans until tender, about 15 minutes. When the beans are cool enough to handle, slip the skins from the beans. Drizzle with olive oil and a sprinkling of salt and pepper.
Sauteed - Remove the beans from the pods. Blanch the beans in boiling water for a few minutes and slip the skins from the beans. Heat a little olive oil or butter in a pan and sauté the beans with minced garlic or shallots and a little salt and pepper.
Grilled - Place the favas (pod and all) onto a hot grill. The heat will pop the pods open and split the skins that wrap each bean. Remove the beans with your fingers.
